Creative Ways To Approach Email Marketing‏

by Bryan Smith

In marketing your business, you need to decide which marketing tools will be most effective. Email marketing has been around for a long time. It is still a smart way to reach customers. There are some techniques that will make your marketing emails even more effective.

Set a schedule as to when you will send out newsletters and then stick to it! Keep the day you send out your newsletter the same every week. If possible, send them at the exact time of the day as well. If your customers expect to receive a newsletter from you on a regular basis, they will be on the lookout for the next one.

Limit subject lines in your emails to 60 characters or less. Email clients usually make messages this length anyways. Others might not even be able to view email subjects past this length. Regardless, 60 characters is more than enough for readers to decide whether they want to read the email more or simply delete it.

Add a personalized touch to your marketing emails. Just putting their name in the subject or at the top of the email isn't enough. Use all of the information you've gathered about your subscribers. Reorganize your list of subscribers according to common interests and send specialized messages for each interest group.

Always ask permission before sending people marketing email. No one likes unwelcome messages taking up space in their inbox. Sending out spam will sink your business quickly. So, get a good start with potential customers by ensuring they are o.k. with receiving your mailings.

Your content should be written for real people, not something just to deceive the spam bots. You want to avoid spam filters, and if you stick to your topic and talk to your customers directly then you should have no problem doing this. If you try too hard to avoid certain sales words like "deals" or "free," the mailing will likely irritate the recipient and get nabbed by spam filters anyway. Write an interesting subject line for your emails. Your customers should be excited when they read the subject line, so they want to open the email. Emails that have suspicious, strange, or uncreative subject lines will likely be deleted before they are read.

Email marketing can be useful for business, and can cost half as much as other marketing methods. Since the input costs are incredibly low, there is no good reason to not use email marketing. Use these tips to develop a marketing strategy that sees results quickly.
